Tight end Jonnu Smith is having a sensational season in his first in South Florida. Arguably one of the league’s best tight ends statistically over the last five games, he has been a go-to player for Tua Tagovailoa. Over the last five matchups, Smith has averaged 7.4 receptions on nine targets for 78.6 yards and a touchdown.

Entering Sunday, Smith has 70 receptions, 740 yards and six touchdowns. He needs just 52 yards to break Miami’s tight end record of 791, held for the last 20 years by Randy McMichael. Smith is also four receptions away from breaking the Dolphins tight end record of 73 catches in a season, also held by McMichael from 2004, as well as Mike Gesicki in 2021.

Smith is also challenging to hit a seasonal Triple Crown of receiving records for Miami, as he is two scores away from breaking the Dolphins tight end record of seven in a season, held by Keith Jackson (1994) and Anthony Fasano (2008).

The Dolphins are down several receivers, so look for Smith to be targeted even earlier in the game than usual.
