Despite playing a 2-12 Giants team, Penix entered the game with a decent amount of pressure to perform. The former Washington standout was extremely poised in his debut, completing 18 of 27 pass attempts for 202 passing yards and one interception. Penix overcame a few bad drops by his teammates. His lone interception came on a pass that was juggled and tipped by Kyle Pitts. Overall, the offense moved the ball well and Penix excelled on third downs. The team converted eight of 14 third-down attempts and outgained New York by nearly 100 yards of total offense. It was a promising start for the rookie.
