In many ways, offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb presents a clear upgrade over what has come before him at this position. The creativity in the passing attack is evident, especially with the emergence of second year receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba. But Grubb lands himself on the Duds list in Week 16 because he is far too trigger happy, and abandons the run for no reason at times. Yes, there are games where the offensive line cannot block. This was not the case against the Vikings! Going into the fourth quarter, the Seahawks were averaging 4.3 yards per carry… but only ran the ball eight total times! Kenneth Walker III was healthy, and was getting involved in the passing attack with seven receptions… but that was one more reception than carry by that point! By the start of the fourth quarter, Seattle had a 3rd-and-1 situation. They chose to do a play action roll out that almost was intercepted. Yes, they got the first down on fake punt, but then chose to run three more pass plays afterwards, which ended in a sack. Overall, they finished the game with 15 carries as a team for 59 yards. Seattle’s offense has become one dimensional by its own volition.
