While the NFL season is hitting it’s home stretch, it’s never too late for UFL athletes to make their way to the highest stage of pro football. Yesterday, St. Louis Battlehawks kicker Andre Szmyt signed with the Browns practice squad, joining former Brahmas long snapper Rex Sunahara in Cleveland.

Andre Szmyt was an offseason addition for St. Louis, beating out Andrew Mevis in Training Camp. The team moved on from Donny Hageman, looking to find a fresh face at kicker in 2024.
They found their guy in Andre Szmyt. Andre was 19-21 on field goal attempts this season, with a long of 61 yards.

Throughout the entire year, Andre was about as consistent as could be. His game winner in week two was the perfect way to kick off the UFL campaign at home for St. Louis, sending fans in attendance into a frenzy.

Andre received quite a bit of NFL attention throughout the offseason, with multiple workouts. Those teams include the Minnesota Vikings, Green Bay Packers, and New York Jets.
Now, he’s getting an opportunity to continue his pro career in the NFL, with the Browns. Cleveland’s had some struggles from a kicking perspective this year – dealing with injuries and inconsistent play. Szmyt just proved he’s got a strong leg in his rookie season in St. Louis – and could end up on the active roster before the year’s end.
