Former Nebraska football wide receiver Malachi Coleman committed to the Minnesota Golden Gophers on Tuesday evening. Hayes Fawcett reported the initial news.
Coleman had his best season with the Huskers in 2023. He finished with eight catches for 139 yards and a touchdown.
He was a highly-touted member of the 2023 recruiting class. He was the 67th overall player nationally, the 11th overall wide receiver, and the top player in the class from the state of Nebraska per the 247 sports composite rankings.
Coleman joins a Minnesota transfer portal class with 14 commitments. His athleticism and ability to get downfield quickly could be an asset to the program’s passing game.
It will certainly be interesting to follow the rest of his collegiate career. Injuries have hampered the wide receiver throughout his first couple of seasons. When healthy, however, he is a dynamic playmaker that can take over a game.
