All things considered, the Miami offense had a positive day.
The Dolphins’ quarterback completed 22 of his 26 pass attempts for 225 yards and a touchdown. That sounds like a Tua Tagovailoa stat line, but it was actually backup Tyler Huntley that had the uber efficient performance.
Huntley kept the ball moving through the air fairly well, and his lack of incompletions were a major plus. He found Tyreek Hill nine times for 105 yards, finally involving the speedy receiver after a pair of low-production games.
Huntley also added 52 yards and a touchdown on the ground. But he was the only source of rushing yards.
Starting running back De’Von Achane mustered only 25 yards on 10 carries. Jeff Wilson Jr. and Raheem Mostert combined for eight yards on nine attempts, and Malik Washington lost 11 yards on the disastrous end-around.
Miami also struggled to sustain longer drives. The Dolphins converted only two of 11 third downs, which forced them to punt seven times.
The offensive attack wasn’t very well-rounded, but it still got the job done. That’s all you can ask for with Huntley starting in place of Tagovailoa.
