Penn State’s reasons for optimism in Fiesta Bowl against Boise State

At the risk of ending up jinxing Penn State, Ashton Jeanty is just one player. Now, he may be the best player in the country depending on which side of the Heisman debate you fell on, but he is still just one of 11 players on offense every snap for Boise State. His ability to create plays even when the blocking isn’t perfect makes him as dangerous a running back as I have ever seen play.

All of that said, Penn State is too good on defense for Jeanty to dominate by himself. He may need less help than other backs, but his offensive line and the passing game need to at least have a solid day if they want to remain competitive. Many point to the Oregon game as an example of him nearly carrying them to victory, but that’s the point. He only almost carried them, but a poor showing from the passing game ultimately did them in.
