Meet Josh Caminite, founder of nonprofit ‘Vegas Raider Dad’

Josh Caminite has a deep passion for the city of Las Vegas and it’s people.

The Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, native has lived in Southern Nevada for 13 years now, working in the hospitality industry. He’s been one of the many locals to reap the benefit of several professional sports teams setting their sights on the city, especially the Las Vegas Raiders.

“When you think of Las Vegas, you think about hospitality. You think about experience,” Caminite said. “When you go to Allegiant Stadium, it’s this great experience. It’s not just a Raiders game, even from a fan’s perspective. A lot of people like to tailgate and get the full experience before they even walk inside of Allegiant and experience these different type of moments in what I think is probably one of the more premier stadiums in the NFL. Just really feel the Raiders do a good job of bringing the city together of what Las Vegas is known for.”

Caminite immediately became hooked on the Raiders after attending the team’s first home regular season game with fans in attendance – a Week 1 overtime victory against the Baltimore Ravens.

However, the football component isn’t the only factor that’s come along with Caminite’s fandom. It’s also a personal factor of using games as an opportunity to spend time with his two young sons.

“Sports played a big role in my life growing up,” he said. “I was starting my own family and I was trying to find something that I could connect with my kids with. I always thought as a child it would be cool to be a season ticket holder, go to experience gameday. … That was something I wanted to experience with my own kids, so I started taking them to games and we just fell in love with Raider Nation.

“Sharing those moments inside the stadium, obviously it’s early into their childhood but I feel like those moments going to Raiders games, going to Allegiant is something that they’ll remember when I’m no longer here.”
