LSU football set to host transfer portal tight end from SEC rival

LSU football will reportedly host another top transfer portal target in the coming days.

According to On3’s Pete Nakos, tight-end Texas A&M TE Donovan Green will visit Baton Rouge this weekend. On3’s Industry Rankings grade him a three-star transfer and rank him No. 25 at his position in the 2025 class.

Green committed to Texas A&M as part of the 2022 recruiting class. Rated a four-star prospect and No. 6 at the position, he chose the Aggies over several SEC teams, including LSU.

After catching 22 passes for 233 yards and a touchdown in his true freshman season, Green suffered a torn ACL that sidelined him all of the 2023 season. He appeared in seven games primarily on special teams last season and is in search of a program where he can be a threat on offense again.

With Mason Taylor heading to the NFL Draft, LSU needs tight ends who can catch passes and contribute as a blocker. It already secured a commitment from Oklahoma’s receiving leader Bauer Sharp.

Green’s six-foot-four, 265-pound frame makes him the perfect candidate to compete for a starting role with the Tigers as Trey’Dez Green continues to develop. He was the only scholarship tight end left before Sharp’s decision as Ka’Morreun Pimpton entered the transfer portal.
