Studs and Duds for the Lions win over Vikings earning NFC top seed

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson (18) misses the pass, while Detroit Lions cornerback Amik Robertson (21) covers him in the end zone, during the first half of the NFL game at Ford Field in Detroit on Sunday, Jan. 5, 2025.

Robertson faced the daunting challenge of covering one of the league’s premier receivers, Justin Jefferson, and rose to the occasion brilliantly, effectively shutting him down. On seven targets against Robertson, Jefferson was held to just two catches for 48 yards, a critical factor in stifling the Vikings’ offense.

Since the Lions lost Carlton Davis, Robertson has stepped up as the primary outside corner, consistently exceeding expectations. Week after week, he has taken on opposing teams’ top receiving threats and largely neutralized them. His performance against Jefferson solidifies his reputation as a reliable and impactful presence in the Lions’ secondary.
