7 PM: Linebacker Nakobe Dean has watched the Week 1 victory over Green Bay, played way back in September in Brazil, and, yeah, he’s pleased the Eagles pulled out the win. But there have been times, Dean admits, when what he saw wasn’t pretty.
“We made some good plays, but there were a lot of plays it was like, ‘Awwwww.’ Made me want to throw up, in a sense,” Dean said, laughing. “We weren’t playing to our standard that we had to build throughout the year for ourselves.”
In that game, Green Bay rang up 414 total net yards and had seven plays of 20-plus yards – four of which were plays of 30-plus yards. The Eagles, of course, righted the ship and built the No. 1 defense in the NFL through the course of the season.
“I feel like we, as a defense, have come a long way,” Dean said. “The pride we take in everything as far as stopping the run, stopping the pass, our technique, our tackling, the fundamentals, things like that, I feel like we all have come far in every type of way.” – Dave Spadaro
