The kicking position for the New York Jets nearly had more question marks than players attached to it during the 2024 NFL season.
One face from this past year is set to get a chance at the job again in 2025.
The Jets announced that two more players have been signed to reserve/future contracts. That comes after 10 others already signed such deals in New York in recent weeks.
The pair of players added to the list are tight end Neal Johnson and kicker Anderson Carlson. The latter stands out after this past season.
Carlson, 26, attempted 10 field goals for the Jets in 2024 and connected on eight of them. He lined up for the team in five games. Carlson did miss two extra points in those outings.
By the end of the campaign, veteran Greg Zuerlein ended up back in the fold but the entire future of the kicking position in New York will be a position battle that needs answering once next summer rolls around.
The reserve/future contract guarantees that a player cannot be signed by another team. The deal goes into effect once the new league year begins and will count towards the next season’s salary cap and 90-man roster for the offseason and training camp.
Essentially, Carlson will get a chance to prove his worth again.
Jets Wire will provide roster updates throughout the 2025 offseason.
