Victor Cruz says Giants could hunt for Arch Manning in 2026 NFL Draft

Former New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz has a bold strategy for the team’s future. Cruz believes the Giants should use their No. 3 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft to select Colorado standout Travis Hunter and wait to secure quarterback Arch Manning in 2026.

Cruz’s vision hinges on the assumption that Manning, a star at Texas, will declare for the draft in 2026—one year earlier than his uncles, Peyton and Eli Manning, and grandfather, Archie Manning. Unlike his famous relatives, who each played four full collegiate seasons (Peyton at Tennessee, Eli and Archie at Ole Miss), Arch has showcased NFL-level potential in just two years at the collegiate level.

Manning’s performances this season have been historic. In the season opener against Colorado State, he completed 5-of-6 passes for 95 yards and a touchdown while accounting for two total scores. Stepping in for an injured Quinn Ewers against UTSA, Manning delivered one of the most electrifying performances in recent memory. The freshman completed 9-of-12 passes for 223 yards and four touchdowns, adding a 67-yard rushing touchdown to account for five total scores.

The 67-yard touchdown run made Manning just the fifth SEC freshman quarterback in the past 15 years to record a touchdown run of 65 or more yards. He joined elite company, including Johnny Manziel (Texas A&M, 2012) and Anthony Richardson (Florida, 2021). Manning also became the first player in Texas history to register a 65-yard-plus pass and run in the same game.

OptaStats reported that Manning is the only FBS or NFL quarterback in the past 25 years to record a 75+ yard touchdown pass, a 65+ yard rushing touchdown, and another 50+ yard touchdown pass in a single game.

In an interview with The Sports Daily, Victor Cruz told DJ Siddiqi exactly what he thought of Texas new QB1 Arch Manning.

I mean, he checks all the boxes. If you look at New York, guy with Manning on the back of his jersey in New York, one of the fastest Mannings that…
