Sometimes, you feel old as a sports writer when the football players you watched as child are now fathers to future college football prospects, including former Dallas Cowboys star wide receiver Dez Bryant, who finished his NFL career with over 7,500 receiving yards and a Cowboy record 73 receiving touchdowns.
The Lufkin, Texas native starred at Oklahoma State before being drafted by the Cowboys in 2010. He has two sons, including rising 2028 wide receiver Dez Bryant Jr., who, although through limited tape, is already looking like his namesake.
Bryant Jr. is currently a freshman at Colleyville (TX) High School. The 5-10 160-pound prospect was excited to receive what looks like his first significant collegiate offer from Texas A&M on Friday night, stating in a tweet,
“I am truly grateful to receive an offer from Texas A&M. This is a blessing from the man above.”
A proud father, Dez Bryant expressed his excitement in a tweet, knowing that this is just the start of what’s to come for the talented prospect:
“Keep going dude. It’s only the beginning! I’m proud of you.. it’s time to kick it into another gear…”
