The incoming Class of 2025 is a unique one for North Carolina. It is comprised of players that Mack Brown personally recruited and brought to Chapel Hill alongside players that Bill Belichick has kept and recruited through the coaching staff changes.
A late member of the Class of 2025 had committed to Belichick and is making his way to Chapel Hill. Three-star quarterback Au’tori Newkirk hails from Maury High School in Norfolk, Virginia.
The Tar Heels boast nine signees in the Class of 2025, including two four-stars and seven three-stars.
Most notably, four-star quarterback Bryce Baker was recruited to the Tar Heels through Mack Brown and opened back up his recruitment after Brown was fired. Belichick stepped in and re-recruited Baker, bringing him back.
Alongside Baker, North Carolina has four-star Austin Alexander. They also have seven, three-star recruits highlighted by receiver Evan Haynes, running back Demon June, and in-state offensive lineman Trey Blue.
Now, a late three-star quarterback has been added to that list. Newkirk has an 87 rating from 247Sports and is absent of a composite ranking. He is the No. 52-ranked quarterback in the class and the No. 29-ranked player in Virginia.
North Carolina also has three more hard commits outside of Newkirk who have yet to sign a letter of intent, including four-star DE Chinedu Onyeagoro, three-star RB Jariel Cobb, and three-star DL Terry Nwabuisi-Ezeala.
