Stallions Sign EDGE Deandre Johnson, Cut Gary Jennings

The Birmingham Stallions made a couple more moves on Wednesday. They signed EDGE Deandre Johnson, and cut WR Gary Jennings, as they look to finalize their roster for UFL training camp.

The Stallions have seen some changes to their defensive unit ahead of the 2025 UFL season. They’ve lost a couple key pieces to the NFL, and have brought in some new faces in their place. The most recent addition defensively is EDGE Deandre Johnson, who makes his return to spring football after a year off.

Johnson began his college career at Tennessee, playing there for four years. He worked his way into a starting role during his junior year, totaling 28 tackles and 4.5 sacks in 2020. In 2021, though, he transferred to Miami for his final season of eligibility, posting 26 tackles and 4.5 sacks.

Deandre earned an NFL opportunity with the Miami Dolphins, before making his way to the XFL in 2023. Johnson had 15 tackles and a sack with the Roughnecks that year, as part of a talented defense where he was primarily a rotational piece.
