USA TODAY Sports grades Alabama football’s 2024 season

Anyone who follows college football or the Alabama Crimson Tide knew that the 2024 season would be a bit of a learning curve as new head coach Kalen DeBoer had to adapt to his first year in the South. The Alabama roster was as talented as any team in the country this past season, but it never felt like they fully reached their potential. Despite the talent, they still weren’t DeBoer’s recruits and many things will get cleaned up as he starts to get the guys he wants into his system.

Regardless, the Crimson Tide had four losses, including an ugly bowl loss to Michigan, making it far from an ideal season. Alabama had several chances to make the first-ever 12-team Playoff, especially after an early season marquee win against Georgia. However, lackluster performances against Vanderbilt, Tennessee and Oklahoma kept Alabama out of the SECCG and ultimately the playoffs.

For the Tide’s up and down 2024 campaign, USA TODAY Sports has given Alabama’s 2024 season a ‘C’ grade. Despite Alabama’s struggles, they pale in comparison to in-state rival Auburn who earned a ‘D’ for their season. Tied for the lowest grade in the SEC with 2-10 Mississippi State.

Alabama enters the 2025 season returning a good amount of production from this year’s time as well as bringing in the No. 2 recruiting class in the 2025 cycle, so there is a lot to be excited about in Tuscaloosa.
