Quarterback Shedeur Sanders and five other NFL draft-hopeful Colorado football players are in Texas this week for the East-West Shrine Bowl.
Although Sanders isn’t practicing and won’t play in the game on Jan. 30, he’s using the week to meet with NFL teams. ESPN reported that the senior signal-caller spoke with the Tennessee Titans, Cleveland Browns and New York Giants on Friday.
Sanders’ meeting with Tennessee, which owns the No. 1 overall pick, went particularly well. Here’s what Titans head coach Brian Callahan said of Sanders, according to TennesseeTitans.com senior writer Jim Wyatt:
“You can tell he’s been raised right,” Callahan said. “He’s mature, he has a really poised way about him, and he seems like a really good kid. I enjoyed talking to him. And, you could tell he’s a guy who has been in the spotlight. He knows how to handle himself, he’s been paid money, so he has a financial perspective… It was a really good first impression.”
Tennessee is certainly in the market for a quarterback, but Titans president of football operations Chad Brinker may have hinted at his interest in Colorado wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter earlier this week.
Most NFL draft analysts expect Tennessee to select either Sanders, Hunter or Miami quarterback Cam Ward with the first overall pick.
