The New York Jets took their time but finally have a new general manager.
The team has tapped Denver Broncos assistant general manager Darren Mougey, 39, as their next GM. It was reported a few days prior to the announcement, but it has happened officially.
Like new head coach Aaron Glenn, Mougey will attempt to find better days for Gang Green moving forward.
Unlike Glenn, a former Jets player, Mougey is a bit unknown in New York. Let us help you there.

Mougey has spent plenty of years in the NFL… but not much as a player.
Mougey went undrafted as a receiver from San Diego State at the 2009 NF draft. He spent two training camps with the Atlanta Falcons and Arizona Cardinals, respectively. Mougey converted from quarterback to wideout and his final two years in college saw him catch 66 passes for 805 yards with six touchdowns… for those curious.
Mougey has spent his entire front office career in Denver. It began in 2012 as a scouting intern before going up the ranks.
However, recent years have seen him fly up the charts. Mougey went from assistant director of college scouting in 2020 to director of player personnel to the following year and the season after that he earned the assistant GM title.
Mougey paid his dues.

Current Denver general manager George Paton dished on Mougey during the 2022 NFL draft process:
“I didn’t know Darren when I took the job, but he quickly impressed, and he shined. His attention to detail, his work ethic, his knowledge of the league and his knowledge of the pro and college [levels]. He has a great pulse of what’s going on out there. The best thing he does is he is a great manager of people, and he has a great demeanor throughout the building while dealing with the coaches, players, and agents out there. This offseason, I was pulled in a lot of different directions with the coaching search and the trade. There’s a lot of stuff that comes up. Darren picked up the slack and we didn’t miss a beat. He’s really vital to our organization, and we’re lucky to have him.”
