Rob Havenstein will be 33 years old in May, which tells us there’s no guarantee he’ll be back to play out the final year of his contract in 2025. He’s a candidate to potentially retire, which would be a big loss for the Rams.
Alaric Jackson is an even bigger question mark at left tackle. He’s a pending free agent and will be viewed as one of the best tackles on the market, if not the best. The Rams have already paid Kevin Dotson and Jonah Jackson, and they spent a second-round pick on Steve Avila two years ago, so they’ve sunk assets into the offensive line.
Will they give Jackson a big extension knowing Avila will want one in a year or two, as well? One thing’s for sure: they should.
Re-signing Jackson should be priority No. 1 this offseason, keeping the former undrafted free agent in Los Angeles where he’s excelled. The Rams would be wise to sign him before he can even begin negotiating with other teams, which could drive the price up.
If Jackson leaves and/or Havenstein retires, Los Angeles could be in some trouble.
