The leadership team of the back-to-back World Champion Kansas City Chiefs today announced the formation of Foolish Club Studios, a new studio focused on developing original scripted and unscripted content for short-form and long-form storytelling.
Building on the legacy of American sports pioneer and Kansas City Chiefs founder Lamar Hunt, the studio will prioritize telling unique stories that not only highlight the rich, deep history of the franchise, the characters that have defined it and its position within the Kansas City and global communities, but also stories that reflect the spirit of humility, heart, and hard work that have been part of the team’s heritage since the beginning.
The announcement follows the football team’s historic, third-straight AFC Championship victory, resulting in hoisting another Lamar Hunt Trophy (so named by the NFL in 1984 to honor Lamar’s impact on the sport) as the team heads to an unprecedented attempt to win three Super Bowls in a row.
Building on the success of the Hallmark Channel collaboration Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story – the number one cable movie of 2024 – along with viral online hits like the holiday Claymation short A Kingdom Christmas Story: Hail Merry (nearly one million views), the Chiefs have formalized their entertainment efforts by launching a dedicated studio to oversee production and development of stories that transcend football and sport.
The name of the studio is a tribute to Lamar Hunt and his resilience in forming the American Football League, where the eight original team owners called themselves the “Foolish Club” because they were crazy enough to take on the firmly entrenched National Football League.
