Jaguars request interview with Bucs front office member for GM vacancy

The Jacksonville Jaguars are not in the same division or even the same conference as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but they have quickly become a major rival. First, they were able to lure Liam Coen away from the team after the Bucs gave him a massive extension.

The Jaguars are moving on from their poaching of Coen and are looking to the Bucs front office for more help fixing their team.

On Monday, ESPN’s Jenna Laine reported that the Jaguars are requesting an interview with Bucs assistant general manager Mike Greenberg.

 

As Laine points out in her post, this is the second job that Greenberg could be interviewing for this hiring cycle. The connection between Coen and Greenberg makes sense for the Jaguars to try to put together. The longtime assistant general manager has been seen as a salary cap wizard for the team, so the potential of him leaving as they head into an offseason with a projected $11 million in cap space.

The Jaguars have requested interviews with other position coaches on the Bucs. Those interviews were blocked as they were lateral moves, but with Greenberg getting a potential promotion, the team does not have that luxury.
