Cowboys set to hire former OC Ken Dorsey to same role

After being fired by the Cleveland Browns, former offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey seems to be headed to the Dallas Cowboys.

According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, Dorsey is set to join the Cowboys under Brian Schottenheimer as an offensive analyst. This comes after being fired in back-to-back seasons by the Browns (who then promoted Tommy Rees to offensive coordinator) and the Buffalo Bills.

Last season, Dorsey handled play-calling for the struggling Browns offense, starting in Week 8 of 2024. During this time, he only had the chance to work with various backup quarterbacks that the team was forced to use after Watson’s Achilles tear. At the end of 2024, Cleveland’s offense finished last in the NFL with only 29 total offensive touchdowns.

The veteran offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach joins new Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer’s staff in his first season. Despite his various coaching roles on offense, it’s not clear what part he will play in the Cowboys’ 2025 season.

As a rookie head coach, Brian Schottenheimer is expected to rely on Dorsey’s veteran experience throughout his time in the NFL. Despite working with Josh Allen in the past, we’ll see if having a solidified quarterback in Dak Prescott makes a difference for Ken Dorsey in his fourth NFL stint.
