During a New Year’s Eve sitdown with 105.3 The Fan, Cowboys Vice President and son of Owner Jerry Jones, Stephen Jones, attempted to excuse his own incompetence by claiming that the Eagles will soon face salary cap struggles.

Roseman is a wizard, and salary cap hell will likely never happen, regardless of the dead cap hits accrued by pushing time back with void years. With the off-season now underway, we’re looking at ranking teams with the most salary cap dollars currently in void years courtesy of Over The Cap.

Void years are contract years on which the player will never play. They are placeholders for prorated signing bonus money, which can be assigned when the void years are created or created through a later contract restructure. Since a bonus can be prorated over a maximum of five seasons, the maximum number of void years to be added to a contract is five minus the number of years left on the player’s current contract.
Once a player reaches the void years portion of their contract and is not re-signed to a new contract for that team, all the bonus money prorated onto the void years is accelerated to that year for cap purposes.
