The Kellen Moore era is off and running. The New Orleans Saints welcomed their new head coach to the headquarters in Metairie with a standing ovation at the team cafeteria, which the Saints shared in a quick video on social media. Moore grinned and waved to the crowd before shaking hands with two-time Pro Bowl center Erik McCoy, who stood with general manager Mickey Loomis waiting to greet him.
Choreographed or not, this is good to see. Moore’s arrival ushers the Saints into a brand new era. He won’t be trying to escape Sean Payton’s shadow like Dennis Allen struggled with. The youngest head coach in the game is expected to bring a lot of fresh energy into the building and you want to see that enthusiasm reflected in the players, staff, and people working in day-to-day operations. It’s going to take a team effort to get the Saints out of the rut they’ve been stuck in the last four years.
