Travis Hunter will be a defensive back at the NFL Scouting Combine

Travis Hunter will be a defensive back at the NFL Scouting Combine

Travis Hunter seized the Heisman Trophy with his dual-threat dynamism for the Colorado Buffaloes in 2024. Playing both wide receiver and cornerback full-time at a very high level set Hunter apart in the college world.

The NFL, however, is a more focused game. As such, Hunter won’t be expected to play both offense and defense full-time at the next level. The NFL appears to want Hunter playing cornerback over being a wide receiver.

Hunter is grouped with the cornerbacks for the NFL Scouting Combine, which kicks off in two weeks in Indianapolis. He will do on-field drills and athletic testing with the defensive backs, as well as that group’s media sessions.

While Hunter might be able to be involved in packages on offense in the NFL, his calling card–at least initially–will be on defense.
