During his first press conference as the New Orleans Saints head coach, Kellen Moore divulged that the Saints were his first visit leading up to the 2012 NFL draft.
Moore reflected upon this full-circle moment in which fellow young quarterback, Chase Daniel, was Moore’s tour guide.
At the time, Daniel was entering his third season as Drew Brees’ backup. Now, Daniel has ventured into sports media. He’s an analyst on Fox Sports’ The Facility and one half of the Scoop City podcast with Dianna Russini. It looks like Daniel is interested in a full-circle moment of his own.
When Daniel saw a clip of Moore telling the story on social media, he asked one simple question: “Need a QB coach?”
Andrew Janocko followed Klint Kubiak to the Seattle Seahawks, so the answer is yes. Daniel is lightly floating his name out for the job, and possibly letting other teams know he’s interested in coaching too.
While being a part of media typically entails being opinionated, Daniel posts quarterback breakdowns on his social media page. This keeps his profile close to the X’s and O’s of the game.
If Daniel got this job, he definitely wouldn’t be the first person to go from the airwaves to the sideline. Jeff Saturday randomly became the Indianapolis Colts interim head coach for half a season. But you’d hope he’d find more success in this role than Saturday achieved. We’ll find out soon who Moore has in mind for this job, whether it’s Daniel, Dan Orlovsky, Kirby Moore, or someone else entirely.
