Team made 4 big signings before 2025 NFL free agency

Damani Leech hints stadium decision could arrive soon

The Denver Broncos plan to be “measured” during NFL free agency this spring. To some fans, that might sound like code for “boring,” but it’s important to keep in mind the four deals the team has already finalized ahead of free agency in 2025.

Last July, Denver gave a four-year, $72 million extension to guard Quinn Meinerz. In December, the Broncos agreed to a four-year, $82 million contract extension with left tackle Garett Bolles.

One month before that, Denver gave a four-year, $54 million extension to outside linebacker Jonathon Cooper. Before the 2024 season kicked off, the Broncos agreed to a four-year, $96 million deal with cornerback Pat Surtain.

Had Denver signed a free agent class of Surtain, Meinerz, Bolles and Cooper from other clubs, excitement in Broncos Country would be off the charts. In-house extensions never draw the same level of excitement, but those four deals were massive signings for the club.

Broncos in-house signings

  1. OT Garett Bolles: 4 years, $82 million
  2. OL Quinn Meinerz: 4 years, $72 million
  3. OLB Jonathon Cooper: 4 years, $54 million
  4. CB Pat Surtain: 4 years, $96 million

So if the front office isn’t quite as active as you’d like in March, keep in mind that they have already committed $304 million to four big signings. The NFL’s free agency negotiating window will open on March 10.
