With UFL Training Camp fully underway, we’re seeing quite a bit of roster turnover already. Teams have lost some players, while bringing new blood in. The Arlington Renegades have signed DB Mekhi Garner, while the Michigan Panthers added S Tyree Gillespie to their roster.

The Arlington Renegades have been beefing up their secondary all offseason long. They’ve brought in some former NFL talent, while also bringing back a couple of their key pieces from the 2024 UFL season. Their latest signing is Mekhi Garner, who brings legitimate potential to Jay Hayes’ unit as camp is under way.
Mekhi had a lengthy college career, jumping around to a few locations. He began his tenure at Navarro JC, posting 48 tackles and two interceptions as a rookie. From there, he joined the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns, beginning as a rotational piece but quickly working his way into a starting role. Garner’s success at Louisiana earned him an opportunity with LSU, where he played his final season. That year, he started in all 13 games, totaling 42 tackles and 8 PBU’s.

This led to an NFL stint with the Philadelphia Eagles. Garner signed as an UDFA in 2023, and he was activated for a few games that year as a rookie. He’s since spent the rest of his time in Philadelphia on the practice squad, and was released this past January.
