UFL Releases Statement in Response to Union Complaint

Earlier today players of the United Football League filed unfair labor practice charges with the National Labor Relations Board in connection with their ongoing collective bargaining negotiations with the UFL.

At one point it seemed like an agreement was near, but news keeps coming that points in the other direction.

Just now, ESPN’s Kevin Seifert has released a statement from the UFL in response to the union complaint.

The United Football League does not comment on active legal proceedings. Throughout the negotiations with the players association, we have acted in good faith to finalize a Collective Bargaining Agreement that is beneficial to both parties, and we will continue to do so until a deal is reached.

Seifert has been following this story closely since news first broke that there was strife within the players association. He was first to report that players were reaching out in regards to potential cuts if they failed to participate in media day. He also reported that Quinten Dormady feels that the union talks were the main reason he was released from the Memphis Showboats.

Most of the online chatter is focused on pay, but a large part of these talks are around expanding healthcare coverage for the players.

The UFL kicks off their second season in two weeks, and although this isn’t an optimal situation, we still don’t believe it will impact the upcoming games. We’ll keep you posted as more information comes out on the UFL union negotiations.
