In his ninth season and an established cornerback with Tennessee and the Giants who considered joining the Eagles in 2021 after his four seasons with the Titans ended, Jackson is here to compete in a young and growing and extremely talented defensive back room. He has an open mind about the whole thing, feeling great physically, knows that he can compete at a high level. and expects to contribute to a defense that was lights out in 2024 and is molding into something new for 2025.
For Jackson, it’s about fitting in, learning every day, and producing. He knows the way it works in this league.
“Nothing is going to be handed to me. I stick to what I know and what I do and that’s working hard, listening, and understanding,” said Jackson, who has 97 games and 82 starts under his belt, with four interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown (against the Eagles in the 2023 season). “I do all of those things well. I know I have to buy in and pitch in and be myself. I obviously know a few guys here and that helps, but it’s all about competing and battling and going into the trenches and getting after it every day.”
He will do it every day against wide receivers A.J. Brown – a former teammate in Tennessee – and DeVonta Smith and Jahan Dotson and a deep group of pass catchers. “Iron sharpens iron,” Jackson says, and he will see where it goes from here. Defensive Coordinator Vic Fangio has a championship scheme and the Eagles have terrific secondary coaches, so it’s on for Jackson.
A new beginning. A rebirth. Starting over in Year 9 in Philadelphia.
“It is always refreshing to start over,” Jackson said. “Sometimes you need that. Sometimes you just need a reset to get back to it. The Lord has blessed me with this opportunity and you don’t get many second chances or third chances in this business, so to be able to have that, I’m very thankful.”
