While UFL cuts were being made, the Arlington Renegades were also making moves. General Manager Rick Mueller never takes a day off, and has brought back RB De’Veon Smith to the roster – while also acquiring two offensive linemen from the Birmingham Stallions.

Folks, he’s back. I’m not sure exactly how he managed to skip all of UFL Training Camp just to return to Arlington – but the Renegades have re-signed RB De’Veon Smith. He’s been their starting running back the past two seasons, and now returns to fight for the RB1 role once again.
De’Veon Smith is a spring veteran at this point. He began his career in spring football in the AAF, with the Orlando Apollos. Smith averaged 4.6 YPC that year, as he rushed for 345 yards and six touchdowns across eight games of action.

When the XFL came around in 2020, Smith took full advantage. He was one of the leading backs in the league, rushing for 365 yards prior to COVID-19 shutting it down.
In 2023, De’Veon made his return to the gridiron. After a messy situation in the USFL with the Pittsburgh Maulers in 2022, Smith was signed by the Renegades – and led the way in 2023 with 365 rushing yards and seven touchdowns. De’Veon was constantly given the ball in red zone situations,…
