Wisconsin football General Manager Marcus Sedberry and Head Coach Luke Fickell announced the hiring of Ethan Russo as the Badgers’ Director of Player Personnel on Thursday. Russo will work closely with the Wisconsin recruiting staff to identify, recruit, develop and retain talent.
“We are excited to welcome Ethan to our talent evaluation and recruiting team,” said General Manager Marcus Sedberry. “He will be focusing primarily on roster planning, roster evaluation, advance scouting, and assist in recruiting efforts. Ethan brings valuable experience at varying levels of college and professional football and we look forward to his contribution to the team.”
Russo joins the Badgers after a variety of stops across the college football landscape. Most recently, Russo served as the Director of Player Personnel at North Texas. He joined the Mean Green staff as the Assistant Director of Player Personnel in 2023 before being promoted to director prior to the 2024 season.
Before his two seasons at North Texas, Russo spent the 2022 season as the Director of Player Personnel at UNLV. He also worked at Utah from 2019-22 in various roles within the Utes’ personnel and recruiting departments.
Throughout his college football experience, Russo has been an integral part of recruiting efforts, transfer portal evaluations, personnel decisions and player development. During his time at Utah, the Utes landed two of the programs’ top 5 recruiting classes and the program won the Pac-12 championship.
After serving as a student manager at TCU during his undergrad, Russo held roles with the Cleveland Browns, Indianapolis Colts and the Rice University football program.
Russo graduated from TCU in 2017 with a degree in Communication Studies. He is originally from El Dorado Hills, Calif.
