The Birmingham Stallions are already taking some tough hits with injury. Starting QB Alex McGough has been placed on IR, and Andrew Peasley has signed with the Stallions to take the QB3 job for now.
McGough going to IR is very unfortunate for this Birmingham organization. The team had brought back the 2023 USFL MVP this offseason, who beat out Matt Corral for the starting gig. In week one, though, things didnβt really go well for McGough, stumbling under pressure as the Stallions fell to the DC Defenders.
However, it looked more as if Alex was just trying to settle back into playing pro football as a quarterback β after being a WR in Green Bay for most of his time there.
Unfortunately for McGough, he wonβt be able to redeem himself any time soon. On the first play against Michigan on Friday night, he suffered a shoulder injury, which now has resulted in McGough being put on IR.
Andrew Peasley Signed
For now, the Birmingham Stallions have added a third QB to the roster with Andrew Peasley signing this week. Peasley is an intriguing prospect whoβs got some pro experience, and now makes his way to the UFL. Itβs a good pickup by GM Paul Roell, whoβs navigating some strange waters after taking over for Zach Potter.
Andrew began his college career at Utah State, but was primarily a backup during his time there. He threw for a little over 800 yards and seven touchdowns across four years, seeing the most action in 2020 when he made two starts in five appearances.
