Both the Arlington Renegades and Memphis Showboats have made a relatively equal trade. Arlington sent OT Kellen Diesch to Memphis in return for OG J.D. DiRenzo, as both look to improve their O-Line play heading towards week five.
For Arlington, J.D. DiRenzo is a decent pickup for their interior O-Line. Heβs played in all four games for the Showboats this season, interestingly enough at the tackle position. J.D. is traditionally more of a guard, but has experience at both positions. DiRenzo has an impressive 74.2 pass blocking grade across that span via PFF, but has struggled on the ground game with a 49.9 run blocking grade.
J.D. has some NFL experience, signing with the Carolina Panthers as an UDFA. He was active for one game during the 2023 season, playing seven snaps.
On the other hand, the Memphis Showboats are doing anything they can to try and get their offense into a groove. Kellen Diesch has only played three snaps this season, but his NFL background and pedigree is something that GM Jim Monos has looked to bring to the organization this offseason.
Kellen had been in the NFL for a couple of years on various practice squads, prior to joining the UFL. Outside of James Tunstall, none of Memphisβ tackles have impressed too much, hence why this trade was made. Diesch is a big, physical body who should make this O-Line better.
