2025 Football Spring Awards – Rutgers University Athletics

Famah Toure

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Head coach Greg Schiano announced the spring award winners for the Scarlet Knights Saturday at the Scarlet-White Game, presented by PNC.


Mark Mills Second Effort Award – WR Famah Toure

Named in memory of former Scarlet Knight running back Mark Mills and awarded to the offensive player who through determination, dedication and hard work has shown the most improvement during the offseason and spring practices.

In his third year in the program, Toure enters 2025 with 10 games of experience for the Scarlet Knights. The Pleasantville, New Jersey, native contributed two catches as a freshman and followed with two tackles on special teams as a sophomore.

Zaire Angoy

Douglas A. Smith Second Effort Award – DL Zaire Angoy

Named in memory of former Scarlet Knight defensive tackle Doug Smith and awarded to the defensive player who through determination, dedication and hard work has shown the most improvement during the offseason and spring practices.

Angoy enters 2025 with 25 career tackles in 25 games. The Irvington, New Jersey, native saw action in all 13 games last season, picking up multiple stops three times, including a career-best five versus UCLA.

DJ Allen

Frank R. Burns Award – DL DJ Allen

Named after former Scarlet Knight All-America quarterback Frank Burns and awarded to the player who demonstrates extraordinary mental and physical toughness during the spring.

A native of Leo, Indiana, Allen enters his fourth year in the program with 22 games of experience for the Scarlet Knights. The defensive lineman contributed five stops last year, including one for loss versus UCLA. He is a two-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree.
