Doubling down on trades
Entering Friday, the Raiders were set to make two picks – one in Round 2 at No. 37 and one in Round 3 at No. 68.
Instead, the Silver and Black traded down twice to nab a couple more picks, ultimately selecting at Nos. 58, 68, 98 and 99. Additionally, the team added a few picks for Day 3.
“The more picks the better,” General Manager John Spytek said. “We turned two picks today into four and another four tomorrow. We’ve got five good players, we feel like. We’ve got six more picks tomorrow. Like Coach said, we wanted to load this roster up with young, competitive guys. Nine picks was a good start, but having 11 right now is exciting.”
The terms of both trades are below:
The Raiders sent their second-round pick (37) and their fifth-round pick (143) to the Dolphins in exchange for Miami’s second-round (48), third-round (98) and fourth-round (135) picks.
Later, the Raiders traded their No. 48 pick to the Texans in return for Houston’s No. 58 pick in the second round and their No. 99 pick in the third round, first acquired from the New York Giants.
The last time the Raiders traded back twice in the draft in the same round was in Round 2 of the 2019 Draft. The Raiders traded pick 35 to the Jaguars for pick 38 and then traded pick 38 to the Bills for pick 40.
