Showboats fans, rejoice. This Memphis organization has made a couple of major moves: bringing back WR Daewood Davis, and signing RB Wes Hills.
WR Daewood Davis
Daewood Davis needs no introduction. He wasn’t with the Showboats in Training Camp, having been placed on IR before camp began as he was still recovering from an injury in the preseason with the Carolina Panthers.
Daewood earned All-UFL honors in 2024, as the sole Memphis Showboats player to do so. Davis posted 446 receiving yards and five touchdowns, proving to be a deep threat all season long.
While there was plenty of turnover at the quarterback position, Daewood Davis stayed consistent. He was one of the fastest players in the UFL, reaching speeds of 21.5mph this season. It was his speed and separation at the line of scrimmage that made him into such a valuable weapon for John DeFilippo’s offense.
Now, Davis will join a wide receiver room that’s already been playing quite well. Jonathan Adams, Dee Anderson, Kwamie Lassiter II, and others have been excellent to begin the year. Now, with Daewood back in action, the offense should elevate to an entirely new level – especially with Dresser Winn appearing to be the guy moving forward.
