San Antonio Brahmas Sign LB Paul Moala, Lose Nate Wieland

St. Louis BattleHawks Survive Seattle Dragons 23-16

With an injury to Nate Wieland, the San Antonio Brahmas have signed LB Paul Moala to the roster. Wieland was placed on IR once again as he was a year ago – and now Moata joins the fold to bring depth to the room.

Nate Wieland going to IR is really unfortunate to see. He missed all of last season on IR, suffering an injury in week one. This year, he was making an impact defensively and on special teams, with four tackles to his name. Wieland could return in week ten, but that remains to be seen. With him on IR, he has to miss at least five games – and he already missed one.

Enter Paul Moala. Moala is a young prospect at linebacker who’s got plenty of potential for this Brahmas unit. He played his college ball at Notre Dame, but across four seasons, had just 21 tackles and was primarily a rotational piece.

He made the move to Idaho in 2022, and ended up starting in 12 games. He had an outstanding campaign that season with 60 tackles, two sacks, and a whopping four interceptions to his name.

For his final collegiate season, Paul went to play at Georgia Tech. He totaled 65 tackles, 11 TFL’s, and four sacks on the year. This earned him an opportunity with the Chicago Bears, where he posted six tackles in the 2024 NFL preseason.

Now, Paul receives an opportunity with the San Antonio Brahmas, courtesy of GM Marc Lillibridge. Moala, with some development, could be a solid rotational piece for this defense.
