The Arlington Renegades have made another impressive defensive move, signing LB Kalen Deloach out of Florida State. Deloach was actually one of Arlington’s UFL College Draft picks from the 2024 draft, in the third round.
Kalen Deloach is an exciting pickup for Arlington. He’s young, and already has some NFL experience, as he spent time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the preseason (six tackles), alongside a practice squad stint with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Deloach played all of his college ball at Florida State, going down as one of the top linebackers in Seminoles history. He racked up 212 tackles, two interceptions, and 11.5 sacks across four seasons with Florida State.
As a senior, Kalen earned first-team All-ACC honors, while being named as FSU’s defensive MVP of the 2023 season. That year, he totaled 68 tackles, 10.5 TFL’s, and a whopping seven sacks. He was a starting linebacker for his final three seasons at Florida State.
What makes Deloach intriguing is his ability to potentially play multiple positions. He’s 6’0”, 212 lbs., so a bit undersized for a linebacker. With his 4.47 speed, Kalen would have the upside to be a safety/LB hybrid, depending on what Arlington needs. That said, considering that the Renegades traded Storey Jackson to San Antonio this week, they’re probably going to use Kalen as a LB, as that’s what they drafted him for in the first place.
The Renegades have seen some great production from their linebackers already, with Donald Payne and Charlie Thomas III leading the way. GM Rick Mueller is always looking to bring quality talent to the table, though, and does exactly that with the signing of Kalen Deloach.
