The Houston Roughnecks made a couple of moves on Tuesday, clearing out their roster while making room for a familiar face. They have re-signed WR Cyril Grayson Jr., while letting WR Reggie Roberson Jr. and DE Davin Bellamy go.
WR Cyril Grayson Jr.
Grayson returns to this Houston roster, as they regain one of their key playmakers from a season ago. It’s getting unfair at this point the amount of talent that Houston has at WR, as Grayson is someone who’s starting caliber in his own regard – but will likely end up as a depth piece the rest of this UFL season.
Cyril began his spring career in the USFL, with the Philadelphia Stars. Cyril Grayson ended up finding his way to the Houston Roughnecks through the USFL-XFL merger process. With Houston in the UFL this year, he was productive, with 18 catches for 192 yards. Cyril wasn’t utilized as often as he should’ve been as a receiver, but showed up when his name was called upon.
In addition, Cyril was finally given the keys to kickoff returns in week nine, and across the next two games he had seven returns for 169 yards.
The former track star has had a lengthy football career, and now comes back to Houston as they prepare to make a playoff push. He was with the team in training camp this spring, but an injury resulted in his original release.
Houston Makes Cuts
WR Reggie Roberson Jr.: Roberson getting cut isn’t much of a surprise – in fact, it was more of a surprise to see him make this roster in the first place. Reggie didn’t produce much for Houston last year, and actually lost them a game due to a fumble. Roberson was on the inactive roster throughout the entirety of the 2025 UFL season.
