It hasn’t been quite the season that the San Antonio Brahmas expected defensively. They’ve made a move in the secondary, signing CB Sean Fresch, while releasing BoPete Keyes from the roster.
As playoff hopes are now out of the question, this is a smart move from GM Marc Lillibridge – for a couple of reasons. Firstly, BoPete Keyes, while being a decent player for the team over the last two seasons, suffered an injury in that game against DC on a long touchdown pass he allowed.
With BoPete now injured, it doesn’t make much sense to keep him rostered for no reason, especially since IR means a minimum of five weeks of missing action – BoPete wouldn’t be able to play the rest of the season if he went to IR.
On the flip side, Sean Fresch is part of the 2025 NFL Draft class. His signing does not count towards the eight moves that teams are limited to each UFL season, meaning that San Antonio still has some flexibility these final few weeks.
Fresch played his college ball at Rice University, totaling 152 tackles, a sack, and three interceptions during his time there. He earned an All-AAC 2024 honorable mention as a senior, which led to some NFL interest. Going undrafted, Sean had mini-camp tryouts with the Kansas City Chiefs and New York Giants.
Now, he’ll look to get his pro career up and running in the UFL, with the San Antonio Brahmas. It’s an exciting signing, and hopefully one that proves to be fruitful for this San Antonio organization the last couple of weeks.
BoPete Keyes should find a new home at some point, or could even be brought back to the Brahmas once he heals up. He…
