Maryland Athletics Broadcast & Production Unit Nominated For 10 Capital Emmy & Sports Video Group Awards


COLLEGE PARK, Md. — The Broadcast & Production department for Maryland Athletics was nominated for 10 awards this past year, presented by the Chesapeake Bay Emmy Awards and the Sports Video Group in May.

Jack Cohen — Student Video Production Assistant for Maryland Football — led the way with six nominations, boasting three from each. His selections include an Emmy Award for best sports editor. Cohen also received Emmy Awards in the Sports Open/Tease and Promotion – Non-News: Program Promotion (Single Spot) categories. They were for producing the Maryland Football Kickoff Hype Video and “No Good Intentions” — Maryland Football’s 2024 Season Trailer.


Cohen’s SVG Awards include nominations in three student categories.

  • Outstanding Cinematic Recap: Maryland Football – Terp Tapes – UConn
  • Outstanding In-Venue Video: Maryland Football – Kick Off Video
  • Outstanding Social Media Video: Maryland Football Uniform Announcement

Albert Tong — Assistant Athletic Director for Football Creative Video — earned two Capital Emmy nominations in the Sports Story – Short Form Content (Up To 10 Minutes) and Sports Program – Post-Produced Or Edited categories for editing and directing “Storming Back” — a Cinematic Recap of Maryland’s comeback win over USC and UNLOCKED Season 6.

Connor Basch — Assistant Athletic Director of Creative Video — and Josh Meitz — Assistant Director of Video Production/Feature Producer — also received recognition for their work, contributing to two SVG nominations in the Outstanding Social Media Video category for the Power Conference division. They were for Maryland Basketball’s “Checkmate” and NCAA Hype videos.
