It’s been a busy week for the Michigan Panthers, and they got some excellent news: Breeland Speaks is back. The former UFL DPOY has returned to the team, alongside the addition of WR Nehemiah Martinez to the offense.
Breeland Speaks reactivated off of IR is some of the best news that Michigan could have received this week. He needs no introduction, with the production he’s put out the last few years with the Panthers.
As the Panthers have been ravaged by injury this year, especially defensively, Speaks has been sorely missed on the defense. Granted, the rest of the group has filled in well, but it’s tough to replace someone like Breeland who makes such a major impact, even when he isn’t stuffing the stat sheets.
In the wake of Speaks returning to the lineup, Michigan has released DT/DE Levi Bell. Bell made the move to DT this year, even though he’s primarily been an EDGE rusher throughout his pro career. Levi played 71 snaps in 2025, totaling four tackles. He never really found his role with Michigan, after being one of their top defenders during the 2023 USFL season.
