We’ve been highlighting the UFL College Draft this week, on the heels of the news that it’s been moved back to September this year. The 2024 College draft proved to be beneficial to a few teams in the UFL, with standouts such as Rayshad Williams and D.J. Miller Jr. joining the league.
During the 2024 UFL season, we also saw several collegiate draftees join the league and make an impact. WR Ty Scott, TE Gunnar Oakes, OT Chim Okorafor, etc. are just a few examples. For a full breakdown of that draft class for the 2024 season, click here.
However, there were quite a few draftees in 2023, between the USFL and XFL Rookie Drafts, who opted not to join the UFL in 2024. That changed this past season, as a few made their way to the league – even if it wasn’t with the team that originally picked them up.
Let’s take a look at the 2023 UFL College Draft selections that ended up playing in the UFL this year.
DC Defenders
OT Mason Brooks
Mason Brooks joined the DC Defenders this past offseason, after being the first overall pick by the Memphis Showboats in the 2023 USFL College Draft.
Brooks was a key piece for DC this year, as a part of an offensive line that saw a pretty major overhaul. Brooks started in nine games, prior to a season-ending injury in a meaningless week 10 game. Mason didn’t allow a single sack according to PFF.

OG Nash Jensen
DE Brevin Allen
LB Zeke Vandenburgh
The Memphis Showboats reaped some legitimate benefits from the 2023 USFL College Draft. They signed one of their own picks, in DE Brevin Allen – who was then let go in Training Camp.
