Itβs been a flurry of re-signings for the Houston Roughnecks, which continued on Thursday with DB Rayshad Williams officially signing back for the 2026 UFL season.
Houston signed quite a few of their 2024 UFL College Draft picks heading into 2025. Rayshad Williams was one of those draft picks β and may have ended up as the most important of them all.
He had 32 tackles, three PBUβs, and two interceptions β including a clutch pick six against San Antonio in week five. Due to injuries, Rayshad ended up starting in four games, proving why he was a valuable pick by GM Will Lewis and HC C.J. Johnson.
What made Williams so valuable to this secondary: his versatility. He played in the slot, on the outside, and also appeared at safety throughout the season.
Rayshad had a productive college career β one that was highlighted by his efforts with the Texas Tech Red Raiders. He immediately made an impact with the Red Raiders in his debut season, making 12 starts at CB, posting 38 tackles and 10 PBUβs. The next year, he continued to impress, with 37 tackles, seven PBUβs, and an interception to his name.
While injuries took away from his potential in his final campaign, Williams did earn an UDFA opportunity with the Las Vegas Raiders in 2024.
Now, heβll look to continue his professional career in the UFL, with the Houston Roughnecks.
