Long snapper is a position in football that often gets overlooked. Marco Ortiz, who’s fresh off a strong rookie campaign with the Houston Roughnecks, has re-signed with the team for the 2026 UFL season.

With the release of Logan Klusman after the 2024 season, the Roughnecks added Marco Ortiz to the roster.

He is their third long snapper across three seasons. Marco is actually the brother of Arlington Renegades LS, Antonio – with both being a part of the UFL.

He played for a few years at Florida, before moving to Nebraska for his final season. In 2023, he was named as a Patrick Mannelly Award Finalist – being one of just three long snappers in the entire country to receive such recognition.

Following a strong UFL campaign, Marco received interest from the Arizona Cardinals with a workout earlier this week.

Now, Ortiz re-signs with Houston – ready to run it back with the Roughnecks (wherever they play) next season.
