Glenn, who became the franchise’s 22nd head coach in January, was a first-round pick (No. 12 overall) of the Jets in 1994. He appeared in 121 regular-season games with the Green & White over eight seasons and his 24 INTs are tied for fourth in franchise history. A Pro Bowler with the Jets in 1997 and ’98, Glenn led the team in interceptions in ’96, ’98 and 2001. He returned to the Jets to work in the front office as a pro personnel scout in 2012 and college area scout in 2013. Following coaching stints with the Browns (2014-15), the Saints (2016-20) and finally as a defensive coordinator in Detroit (2021-24), Glenn has returned a third time.
The Jets have completed nine training camp practices and will begin preseason play next Saturday night against the Packers in Green Bay. Before the team started with its move-the-ball periods this morning, Glenn heard the chant that has resonated in his heart for decades.
“It was actually during stretch and that’s when I heard the chant and I took a moment to myself,” Glenn said. “It just hit me, it hit me pretty hard. The only thing I was thinking about was I’m grateful.”
