NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt’s Sedrick Alexander has been named to the Doak Walker Award Watch List, the PwC SMU Athletic Forum announced on Tuesday.
The award is presented annually to the nation’s most outstanding college running back.
Alexander recorded 586 yards and scored six touchdowns on 146 carries a year ago, all career-high totals, while adding 23 receptions for an additional 238 yards and a score as he finished second on the team with 824 all-purpose yards. Originally from Austin, Texas, he was recognized on the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Honorable Mention List after posting 64 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 21 attempts in the Commodores’ victory over top-ranked Alabama while he ended up with a season-best 69 yards with a score both rushing and receiving in a season-opening defeat of Virginia Tech.
Alexander was voted to the SEC All-Freshman Team in 2023 after leading all freshmen in the league with 371 yards and four touchdowns rushing.
Alexander and the Dores kick off the season on Aug. 30 with a match-up against Charleston Southern at FirstBank Stadium set to get underway at 6 p.m. Information on season tickets, mini-plans and single-game tickets can be found here for all seven of Vandy’s home contests this fall.
