He’s officially back: as of this morning, the Michigan Panthers have re-signed LB DaShaun White. White, who spent a couple of years with the Panthers, now returns after a year off due to an NFL opportunity with the 49ers.
DaShaun White, originally a USFL College Draft pick with Michigan in 2023, used spring football to earn an NFL opportunity in back to back seasons. White went to the Bills for a time after the USFL’s 2023 season, but returned to Michigan in the UFL.
White was on and off the roster in 2024, partially due to injury as he was released for a time. DaShaun made an impact defensively when utilized, with an 80.9 Defensive Grade via PFF. He had 14 defensive tackles in 2024, with seven special teams tackles as well.
DaShaun was picked up by the Las Vegas Raiders following that season – but then landed on the San Francisco 49ers practice squad, remaining there for a year. He totaled two tackles with the Raiders during the 2024 preseason, and was active for one game with San Francisco. White was waived by the 49ers in late May.
Now, he returns to a Michigan Panthers defense that will need some help at LB heading towards 2026. Javin White is planning to retire, and there’s no guarantee that Frank Ginda will return, either.
